What do I discover about God/Jesus here?

• God spoke to the recipients of the Old Testament through many amazing ways, but that’s nothing compared to our receipt of the Word through Jesus, His son.

• God made the cosmos through Jesus! I just checked out Genesis 1, Psalm 19:1-9, Proverbs 8:22-31. And Jesus sustains it all - Colossians 1:15-17.

• One single angel, 2 Kings 19:35, killed 185K Assyrian soldiers. Revelation 5:11 describes “myriads” of myriads of angels. Roman guards shook and fell like dead men at the awesome sight on an angel. The voice of angels shook the throne pillars of heaven in Isaiah 6:4. When Jesus walks across the throne room of heaven, all angels fall before Him in worship! Whoa.

What do I discover about people (me, us) here?

• God exalts us to the point that angels are ministering spirits sent out to serve us.

• We are truly and confidently heirs who will inherit salvation.

What’s an appropriate response to this truth?

• It’s time for me to tremble before the Word given to us through Jesus the exalted Son. I want to launch into this year with a newfound awe for the Word and its direction for me/us.
