Dec 27. Revelation 19. Anna Lutz

This is Our Fairy Tale Ending

Reading Revelation reminds me of God’s incomprehensible nature. We can know Him sufficiently, but never fully. It’s exciting to consider because God is also purely good. He has mystery, but there are no skeletons hiding in his closet. Revelation 19 glimpses God’s justice, Jesus leading Heaven’s armies. It is something that is truly just, delightful, satisfying, and glorious to behold.

All this is heralded by fanfare, multitudes crying out, flashes of lighting and peals of thunder. This is the God of Sinai, mentioned in Hebrews 12. We can worship with reverence and awe because God is going to set things right. We see the corruption of governance and religion, represented by the prostitute of Babylon and the Beast, finally ended, and served justice by Jesus himself. There will be no more reasons to grieve.

There’s a marriage feast, with the Bride (that’s us you guys!), who is clothed in righteous deeds—a gift granted by God, Himself. There are also honored guests. This is the long-awaited alignment of Heaven and Earth, people and God’s heavenly servants joining to fulfill our true, original purpose, celebration of and with our Heavenly Father. It reminds me of Song of Songs 2:4. Jesus will lead us to a feast and place his banner of love over us.

Jesus is described in an exciting way. This is our Jesus, riding a white horse! Our knight in blood-dipped robes, finally come to rescue His beloved (us!). He cannot disappoint. He is not an imperfect savior. Not a prince or only a king, but THE king. He is leading Heaven’s armies, and He is going to strike down the very source of evil and suffering FOREVER!

I am so excited to see all this happen! In my life I have endured much suffering and grief, just as many of you have. This is the ending that makes all that right. Jesus promised, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the word you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
