Walk in Truth and Light
“If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.” (1 John 1:8-10)
It was me and God one early, crisp morning. The birds were singing, my mind unburdened and I was happy to walk and talk with Him. As normal, I asked God to search my heart for anything that offends Him (Psalm 139: 23-24) and then I waited quietly to see what He would reveal. Very soon the Holy Spirit exposed a situation that happened the day before where I was proud. I needed to confess and apologize to God, and I realized that I also needed to apologize to that person. It was freeing to be honest with God and with the brother (or sister).
To confess means to "agree with", or to "say the same". Yes, even though God knows our sin, He wants us to acknowledge our sin, and agree with him, or be on the same page with Him.
Sadly, it is easy for me to see others sin, but the hardest person for me to truly see..is myself. How easy it is to deceive myself about my own heart (Jeremiah 17:9).
God is truth and light and He wants the very best for us. He wants you and I to walk in the truth and the light of obedience & humility ( Matthew 11:28-30). When we do, we enjoy unity with Him and one another.
Try setting a timer for 1-3 minutes and pray Psalm 139:23-24. Wait in silence and see what God reveals to you!
