February 15. Matthew 20

Super cool stuff I was reading:

Turns out in the early 1900’s Eddie Cudahey was taken from his father while on an errand, and his dad paid a WORLD RECORD in ransom: equivalent to $600,000 in today’s money to get him back. Crazy how this dad was willing to pay anything to get his son back! Even crazier how you read in Matthew 20:

“just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”” (‭Matthew‬ ‭20:28‬ ‭NIV)‬‬

This small passage shows how our God is our Father who would pay any price for us. He was willing to give the life of His own child, part of Himself, so that we could be free from sin and darkness. And Jesus Himself was compliant to such a heart-wrenching idea...because He loves us just the same. I could never imagine giving up a family member or even a pet. Yet God, because of His great love for each of us, gives up His own child. And if that’s how far He will go to show His love for us, then we should go to great lengths to show our love for Him.

How have you shown your love for God today?
