August 19. Luke 8. Adam Litzenberger

The Sower of Seeds

I recently taught a lesson for the Bible Talk on this particular parable and really wanted to share my thoughts on it. (Luke 8:1-15)

Where do we plant our seeds of faith? Do we scatter it along the path to be eaten by birds? Does it fall on the rocky ground? Does it fall within the thorns? Or do we plant our seeds in good soil?

Well, I found myself really fighting deep down inside to figure out where it was that I had planted my seeds. I feel that sometimes I could be in the thorns, getting choked out by the world and all of the political tension. There are also times that I plant my seeds in great soil. I find myself wanting to encourage others and fired up to see how God uses me next.

We must sow our seeds in good soil. The fruit that will come from it could help others in ways we may not see. But, with faith, we believe what we cannot see. If we hide our faith and put it under the bed, who will see it and be encouraged? We need to put our faith on the lampstand for all to see and be encouraged. You never know who you may help and bring to Christ.

Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.
