NT40 Convictions for Acts 1-3

We now begin the book of Acts – the book that we will also study in greater depth throughout the month of October. Here the Holy Spirit hands the baton to the disciples of Jesus who powerfully run forward with the gospel message.

1. About God. "This man was handed over to you by God's deliverate plan and foreknowledge" Acts 2:23. God did this in order to "restore all things" Acts 3:21. God already knew of our fall and had already made provision for it through the costly sacrifice of Jesus. Despite our fall, it's still God's deliberate plan to restore everything back to its edenic form and state.

2. About NT: They all joined together constantly in prayer (this included the apostles, Jesus' mother and brothers, AND the women). They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. They sold property and possession and gave to anyone who had need. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Also - Peter and John still went to the temple at the time of prayer.

3. DWIS: I'm convicted by the amount of communal prayer in the early church (Acts 1:14, 1:24, 2:42, 3:1). I will pray with someone today.
