Nov 16. 2 Peter 3. Tasha Lee
God's Patience
In the gracious amount of time we have on this earth until God returns, it is critical to remember Gods’ Word and the apostles appointed by God who come before us, so we are not lead astray from God’s salvation by the non-believers or lawless scoffers who live and preach contrary to the bible.
In Peter’s letter I am reminded to be aware of the different beliefs contrary to biblical prophecy, especially the day of judgment when Jesus returns. If we are not mindful of our beliefs, we too can be influenced by ungodly practices and living.
I think of how many atheists believe the world is and will always be. There was no creator and there is not a God who will come wipe out the earth with fire. When looking at the natural realm and history, we see many generations have come and gone. And the earth is still here more than 4.543 billion years later.
As Paul has warned us to be on guard, he reminds us of who God is and the miraculous events He did then and plans to do. We know God created the heavens and the earth. He once flooded the earth. And we know He will return, and the earth will burn with fire, and we will be called to judgment. The ungodly will be destroyed and cast into eternal hell when He returns. We know God is patient in his return, so we can have time to repent of our wickedness to live righteously for Him by growing in grace and knowledge of the Lord. That way, we too can live with God in a place he prepared for us known as heaven.
The time is now to submerge yourself into God’s Word and follow Christ’s calling over your life, because our lifetime here is short, and we are called to bring others to the awareness of our Lord and Savior. Where in your walk with God can you repent to become more Christ like, being spotless, blameless, and at peace with God?
