NT Convictions for Mark 8-10

1. About God: Jesus is the Messiah! the Christ! the Deliverer! To confirm it, He is "transfigured before them." Each chapter of Mark has increased in tension about whether Jesus could be the long awaited Messiah. And now the tension is resolved in the climax chapter conversation with Peter (8:27-38) and confirmed in the transfiguration (9:1-13).

2. About NT Christianity: Jesus calls the rich young man to "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come follow me." That man did not, but later Peter reinforces the call by affirming, "We have left everything to follow you!" NT Christians were "all in." And they were persecuted along the way in an abudantly significant life (Mark 10:21-30)

3. DWIS: SO MUCH... deny self, take up the cross, follow Jesus, give to the poor, embrace persecution, power of prayer. But the one thing that most hit me today - "whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all." Mark 10:44. Today, I will seek to serve Christ and my brothers and sisters through service - it's Saturday, a good day for this one.
